Dollmeyer commits to Sauk Valley
Polo High School senior AJ Dollmeyer signed a national letter of intent on Wednesday to play basketball at Sauk Valley Community College next season.
The 6-foot-8 Dollmeyer averaged 17.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game in helping the Marcos post a 23-7 record this past season. He earned first-team all-conference and all-area honors.
“We think the big fella has got a lot of potential,” SVCC coach Russ Damhoff said.
Dollmeyer and Newman point guard A.J. Sharp both signed with the Skyhawks on Wednesday.
Bears add depth at running back
The Bears on Wednesday signed free-agent running back Shaun Draughn to a one-year contract, the team said.
He joins Michael Ford as the only tailbacks on the roster behind Pro Bowler Matt Forte.
Draughn has averaged 3.7 yards on 63 carries in 20 career games, 17 of which were with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He has two career touchdowns.
Seahawks’ Wilson getting divorced
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has announced that he and his wife Ashton are divorcing.
The pair married in January 2012 after he finished his college career at Wisconsin and before he was drafted by the Seahawks. The couple had been visible at Seahawks events for his first two seasons in the league.

Northwestern vote coming on Friday
Northwestern University football players are scheduled to vote Friday morning on whether they want to be represented by a union.Northwestern, which is a private university, is not allowing reporters on campus at Welsh-Ryan Arena, where the vote will take place, citing the players’ wishes to avoid media attention.
Peter Sung Ohr, regional director of the National Labor Relations Board, ruled in February that Northwestern’s football players on athletic scholarships are university employees, setting the stage for the election.
