STERLING – Jean McCue, 83, of Sterling, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.
Jean was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Sterling, to William Edward and Frances Mary (Seidel) McCue. She taught English for 36 years for Unit 5 school district. Jean was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.
Survivors include one sister, Helen, also known as Sister William McCue of the Order of St. Francis in Clinton, Iowa; one niece, Ann (Jeff) Guthrie of Sterling; four nephews, James (Amy) Graff of Sterling, William (Suzanne) Graff of Belvedere, and Dan Graff and Tom (Shelly) Graff, both of Sterling; and 10 great-nieces and -nephews, Jamie, Scott, Ashley, Kyle, Troy, Shannon, Jade, Aaron, Katie, and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rita Graff and one in infancy; and one brother-in-law, James Graff.
Visitation will from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. James R. Keenan, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Serenity Hospice & Home, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
