Festival, walks tours, in Forreston

FORRESTON – A Northwest Illinois Audubon Society bird walk will be from 8 to 11 a.m. May 13 at Elkhorn Creek Biodiversity Preserve.

The preserve is southeast of Forreston on West Grove and Freeport roads. A carpool will leave at 7:30 a.m. from Staples, 1724 S. West Ave., in Freeport. For more information, call Mary Blackborn at 815-938-3204.

The society’s Silver Creek Bird Festival is May 17 at Silver Creek Biodiversity Preserve, 2 miles south of Leaf River. The new parking area is off Leaf River Road.

Guided bird tours will start at 8, 9, and 10 a.m. Bird watchers also may walk on their own.
