SHANNON – Wanda J. Schaubert, 91, of Shannon, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at home.

She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Salem, the daughter of Robert and Versa (Blalock) Powless. She married Clarence Schaubert on Oct. 1, 1942. He died Aug. 7, 1970. 

Wanda had worked as a cook at Shannon Nursing Home. She helped her sisters at their cafes in Sterling and Rock Falls. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and crocheting. 

She is survived by two daughters, Dixie (James Samuel) Foshee of Patoka, and Sheila Renee (Donald) Derrer of Shannon; grandchildren, Joey (Sarah) Foshee, Troy (Wendy) Derrer, Curt (Sara) Derrer, and Kendra (Brian) Newhall; great-grandchildren, David, Nathan, Matalin and Jeremiah, and Daniel, Emma, and Caleb; stepchildren, Hazel (Gerald) Boop and Bob (Carolyne) Schaubert; and stepgrandchildren, Gary, Robert, Larry, Randy, Ricky, Terry, and Ronnie.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jackie Book; one great-grandson, Jonah; five sisters; one brother; and her stepdaughter, Maxine Foltz.

Private graveside service will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. Herrmann Funeral Home in Shannon is handling arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established to FHN Hospice.
