Robert C. Mundt Sr.

ROCK FALLS – Robert C. Mundt Sr., 87, of Rock Falls, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Loyola Hospital in Chicago. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany. He was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Manufacturing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1991.

He was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Sterling, to William and Grace (Hess) Mundt. He married Lorraine P. (Wagenecht) Mundt on Oct. 16, 1955, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Morrison.  

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Laurie (Jeffrey) Beyer of Winnebago; one son, Robert (Cindy) Mundt Jr. of Ottawa; one sister, Dorothy Reglin of Sterling; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Lawrence Mundt.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Visitation also will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday and the funeral at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Daniel Behmlander, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Genesee Township Cemetery in Coleta. 

A memorial has been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls.
