STERLING – Janet “Jan” Love, 87, of Sterling, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.

Jan was born Aug 30, 1926, in Rock Falls, to George and Bethel (Seloover) Billings. She graduated from Rock Falls schools. She was the past president of Rock Falls American Legion Auxiliary Unit 902. She also was a member of First Christian Church in Rock Falls. Jan married Wayne Staples on Jan. 30, 1946. She married George “Joe” Love on Feb. 19, 1966. She was an avid bingo player.

Survivors include one son, Gale (Corina) Staples of Sterling; two granddaughters, Abbigale Staples of Moline and Alexandrea Staples of Sterling; one sister, Loretta (Al) Batson of Hendersonville, N.C.; two stepchildren, Cindy (Robert) Balaban and David Love, both of Rockford; four stepgrandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Billings and Kenneth Billings; two half brothers, Donald Billings and Paul Billings; one sister, Beatryce Devers; and one stepgrandchild.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday and the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. David Beebe and the Rev. Richard Morris co-officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
