Summer reading draws near

ROCK FALLS – Rock Falls Public Library, 1007 Seventh Ave., will offer the following activities and events.

■ The library board will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 12.

■ Registration for the free Summer Reading Program will be May 27 through June 13. The theme is Paws to Read. The program starts June 10.

All ages are welcome from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesdays; ages 3-5 at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesdays; students in third through fourth grade at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Wednesdays; and kindergartener through students in second grade at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Thursdays.

Book Bucks earned may be used to enter a stuffed animal drawing.

The winners will be notified July 21.

■ Babies and toddlers age 2 and younger can join the Rubber Ducky Club to earn a prize and free book. Book logs and instructions will be available at the front desk, starting June 9.

A weekly bookmark with at-home activities will be available to those unable to attend. The bookmark can be turned in weekly to earn prizes.

■ Adult programs include a craft club from 5 to 7:30 p.m. May 21 and scrapbooking from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 23.

■ Individual computer lessons for those who need to learn basic computer skills, email, Facebook, Microsoft Word, eBooks, audiobooks, or other programs are available. Sessions will be scheduled in 30-minute to 1-hour increments, depending upon availability.

Free tickets for the following summer programs are available at the library desk. Tickets are required.

■ A musical performance by Rick Rayburn will be at 3 p.m. June 16. Kids can dance and sing along.

■ Dr. Stangepet’s Wild and Wacky Pet Show will be at 1 p.m. July 11.

■ The Stuffed Pet Show and Summer Reading Party will be at 3:30 p.m. July 23.

Kids can register a stuffed animal into a category. There will be prizes and refreshments after the show.
