Egg hunts still on schedule in area

The Easter bunny continues to hop across the Sauk Valley, as Easter egg hunts spring up throughout the area.

Dixon: Walmart and the Dixon Park District will present an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wooden Wonderland and the soccer fields at Meadows Park, on Washington Avenue.

Walmart will provide prizes. Attendees should bring a basket or bag. Age categories and start times are, 2 years and younger, 1 p.m.; 3- and 4-year-olds, 1:10 p.m; 5- and 6-year-olds, 1:20 p.m; 7- and 8-year-olds, 1:30 p.m.; 9- and 10-year-olds, 1:40 p.m; and 11- and 12-year-olds, 1:50 p.m. The rain date will be April 26. Morrison: The Morrison Kiwanis Easter egg hunt will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kiwanis Park, west of the former high school baseball field on North Genesee Street. Attendees can bring their own collection container and a camera for photos with the Easter bunny. Children will be grouped in four heats by age: 2 and under; 3 to 4; 5 to 6; and 7 to 9. All eggs contain treats, and some have special prizes in them. After the eggs are opened, participants are asked to recycle them in provided containers. There is no rain date.

Mount Morris: The Mount Morris community Easter egg hunt will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dillehay Park, at the south end of Ogle Avenue and along Stengel Drive. Children of all ages can attend. The Mount Morris Lions Club will organize the hunt.

Sterling: Free EGGstravaganza Easter activities will be Saturday at Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, 411 13th Ave.

All children 12 and younger and their families can attend. Shows will be at 10 a.m., 11 and noon in the church sanctuary. Each presentation will feature games, music, and a message with a science experiment. After the shows, hunts will take place for eggs filled with candy and prizes in various parts of the church.

Tampico: An annual Easter egg hunt will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Booth Park.

Royal Neighbors of America Prophetstown Youth Chapter 516 will present the hunt. Attendees should bring baskets. The hunt will take place rain or shine. For more information, call Shelly Jaquet at 815-438-5475.
