Matthew R. McCulloch

DIXON – Matthew R. McCulloch, 77, of Dixon, died Friday, April 11, 2014, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Oregon on March 6, 1937, the son of Robert and Della McCulloch, and married Sonja on Dec. 24, 1990.

Matthew was a butcher for more than 36 years at the Market Basket, then at IGA and also for Headon’s. He served in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959.

He is survived by his wife; children, Michael (Laurie) McCulloch of Rochelle, Sandra (John) Gevers of Kansas City, Mo., and Cheryl (Kevin) Barringer of Oregon; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother-in-law, Bill Gaston; stepdaughters, Sarah (Richard) Roesch, Corena Williams, and Amy (Mike) Williams; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Light House Cemetery on Daysville Road in Oregon, with military services provided by the Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Serenity Hospice and Home or the Rochelle Township High School.
