Kudos, Future Educators, for great event

Published: Saturday, April 19, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

I want to send a note of thanks and appreciation to the Sauk Valley Community College Future Educators for their well-planned, creative and fun, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” program March 28.

From the cute crafts to the cookie station to the “find the mice” game, it was evident that your group put much thought and effort into making a great event for the kids.

My 6-year-old refused to wash off his mouse face and woke up the next morning with his nose and whiskers intact.

My 4-year-old had such a good time that he immediately declared he wanted to go back to the library as soon as he woke up Saturday morning.

You should be proud of your efforts, and based on the success of the event, you will be great future educators. Thank you, also, to the Dixon Public Library for hosting the event and to the Kohl’s Associates in Action for its help. We’re looking forward to future events.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
