Committee thankful for grant dollars

Published: Saturday, May 3, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

The Mount Morris Friday Night Campus Concert Committee is pleased to announce that we are the proud and grateful recipients of two very generous grants in support of our free music programs.

Last year, the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois awarded us a grant in the amount of $2,500.

This year, they have come through with a community arts and humanities grant for $3,400.

The CFNIL attracts, grows, and preserves an endowment for the current and future needs of the people of northern Illinois.

The Rockford Area Arts Council also has contributed greatly to our cause this year by awarding us a community arts access grant for $1,300.

RAAC supports, promotes, and develops the arts for everyone in the northern Illinois region.

The arts council is guided by the vision of a community in which everyone enjoys and participates in the arts, and a community in which successful artists and arts organizations contribute to the vitality of the economy and quality of life.

They offer arts programs, services, and events to residents and visitors as well as awarding grants to artists, arts organizations, and schools.

The RAAC believes that everyone deserves access to the arts and that everyone – from children and families to people in the workforce to senior citizens – can and will benefit from involvement with the arts. The arts are for everyone.

In addition, the Mount Morris Friday Night Concert Committee wishes to acknowledge and thank the generous donors from the community, as well as all of those who make free-will donations at the concerts.

We thank these fine organizations and individuals for the generosity and recognition of the value of our program for the community.

With their assistance, the 2014 season promises to be better than ever.
