Fulton man killed in crash, identified

STOCKTON – Jo Daviess County deputies on Sunday identified the victim of a Friday night fatal crash in Jo Daviess County as James Jones of Fulton.

According to a KCRG-TV report, the deputies say Jones, 60, was traveling eastbound and trying to pass a vehicle at 11:32 p.m. Friday on Highway 20 near Galena Ridge Drive in a no-passing zone when he hit a semitrailer. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freeport Journal Standard reported that rescue crews took the driver of the semitrailer, Pantoja Gonzalez, to Midwest Medical Center in Galena for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Connie Bailey of Stockton was driving a second eastbound vehicle involved in the crash, and was taken by Lifeline helicopter to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

The accident remains under investigation.
