Virginia M. Baumgart

STERLING – Virginia M. Baumgart, 83, of Sterling, died Friday, April 4, 2014, surrounded by her family at Avonlea Cottages in Sterling.

Virginia was born June 25, 1930, in Milwaukee, the daughter of George and Mary Ann (Dubois) Jorgensen. She married Frank A. Baumgart on Aug. 1, 1953 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2012. Virginia was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Virginia loved attending all their sporting events and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Pat (Douglas) Fitzgerald and Gayle (Jeff) Gilbert, both of Sterling; four sons, James Baumgart of Sterling, Steven (Debbie) Baumgart of Murrels Inlet, S.C., Randy (Linda) Baumgart of Pewaukee, Wis. and David Baumgart of Racine, Wis.; one sister, Jean Pugh of California; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. James Keenan officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.  Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
