Rockets drop two on road

The Rock Falls baseball team dropped the first two games on its annual spring road trip, 10-0 to Edwardsville and 16-13 to Granite City on Friday in Edwardsville.

In the first game, the Rockets (0-3) were held to four hits, two of which were singles by Clay Velazquez. Cayden Erickson (0-1) took the loss, allowing 10 runs (nine earned), eight hits and three walks. He also struck out four in five innings.

In the second game, Rock Falls trailed 11-0 after four innings before rallying to make things interesting. Jacob Mammosser and Dallas Jones each drove in three runs, while Logan Pillars added two.

Trace Hippen (0-1) took the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned), three hits and seven walks in 2 1/3 innings. He also struck out two.

The Rockets wrap up their road trip with a doubleheader on Saturday at Jerseyville.
