Ruth M. Kramer

LOCKPORT – Ruth M. (neé Anderson) Kramer, 83, of Lockport, passed peacefully Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Lemont Rehab Center.  

Born in Ohio, living in Lockport since 1962, she retired from Orland Park Library after 15 years of service. She also was an English teacher at Lockport Township High School, Central Campus, for 20 years. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English, and received a master’s degree in library science from Northern Illinois University. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at WIU and the American Association of University Women. Ruth was unique, dedicated, and loyal to her family. She was very committed to her career, but most of all, she cherished her family.

She is survived by her one and only devoted son, Kevin (Stacey) of Cary; four grandchildren, Matthew, Eric, Christopher, and Katharine Kramer; and a brother, Ted (Elaine) Anderson of Glen Ellyn. Three nephews and one niece also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 2003; and her parents, Pearl and Florence (Bolback) Anderson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at O’Neil Funeral Home Chapel, 1105 E. Ninth St. (159th Street), Lockport. The funeral will be at noon Tuesday at Union Cemetery in Ohio.
