Brothers Flooring opening second store
DIXON – The brothers Grell are inviting a whole new set of customers to walk all over them.
Keith and Kraig Grell, owners of Brothers Flooring in Rock Falls for the better part of two decades, sell and install flooring and window coverings of all kinds. They are expanding their business into the Dixon market with the opening of a new store on North Galena Avenue.
“We’re really excited about it,” Keith said.
The Rock Falls natives, 50 and 46, respectively, and now living in Sterling, are leasing two-thirds of the building at 1419 N. Galena, about 7,000 square feet. Most of the interior work is done; now they’re waiting for displays and materials to arrive, Keith said.
They also are hiring sales people, he said.
The Grells are planning a soft opening at the end of this month, and a grand opening sometime in mid-May.
In the meantime, you can check out all they have to offer at 1111 First Ave. in Rock Falls, or give them a call at 815-535-9226. A website and Facebook page are in the works.
Two fixtures celebrate anniversaries
A couple of longtime local businesses are celebrating anniversaries this year.
Forest Inn Restaurant & Lounge, on U.S. Route 30 on the way to Morrison, is turning 80; SBM Business Equipment Center in downtown Sterling is hitting 60.
Ajdim Bajrami’s family-style restaurant at 20657 Lincoln Road, known for its salad bar and all-around tasty food, is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Find it on Facebook or call 815-772-4557 for more information.
SBM, which oldtimers remember used to stand for Sterling Business Machines, sells and services office equipment, has a design and print center for invitations and other ephemera, and also sells office furniture and supplies as well as cards, jewelry and gifts for all occasions, including seasonal items.
Don’t let the word “business” sidetrack you – SBM has something for everyone, from infants on up.
Stop by and check it out; the store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. You also can learn more at www.callsbm.com or on Facebook; the phone number is 815-625-4375.
