Outlook: The Clippers' strength will be their distance and middle distance events, with some throwers ready to make their marks. The small senior class is joined by a strong group of juniors, which should provide plenty of leadership for the younger athletes.

Outlook: The Storm lost three-time state medalist Logan Hoffert, but have a strong stable of talented and experienced athletes to fill any void left behind. Distance and middle distance will be a strength, and BV also has quite a bit of depth in the jumps and throws.

Erie-Prophetstown Panthers

Tyler Naftzger so. pole vault, sprints

Dominic Dopler fr. sprints

Collin Patton fr. sprints

Conner Reiley fr. distance

Jackson Westen fr. distance

Kody Wetzell fr. long jump, sprints

Outlook: The Panthers are still loaded after a third-place finish at the Class 1A state meet last year, but the names filling several events are different. Gone is Devin Johnson, the perennial state performer, but there are many young faces eager to step up in his spot. The track is where EP usually makes hay, but pole vaulters Kyle Pannier and Jared Cole – both state qualifiers a year ago – will lead a strong contingent in the field events.

Fulton Steamers

Coach: Mike Ankrom (2nd season)

2013: Ninth at 14-team 1A Bureau Valley Sectional

Sam Lenz so. sprints

Kegan North so. throws

Hobs Winter so. distance

Jacob Hartman fr. distance

Kyle McLuckie fr. throws

Sam Norman fr. distance

Jacob Schmidt fr. distance

Akif Zendeli fr. throws

Outlook: Bryce Holesinger was the Steamers' lone state qualifier last year, but the hurdler hopes to have some company in Charleston next month. Coach Ankrom likes what he's seeing from Fulton's sprint relay teams, and is excited about up-and-comers in the distance, middle distance and triple jump events.

Morrison Mustangs

Coach: Scott Rickels (12th season)

2013: 13th at 14-team 1A Bureau Valley Sectional

Ryan Mayberry sr. sprints, high jump

Lucas Peppers sr. sprints

Noah Blacklock jr. sprints, triple jump

Scott Ferry jr. high jump distance

Drew Screnock jr. throws, sprints

Eric Mulnix so. distance

Mason Muur so. distance

Darrin Bielema fr. sprints

Payton Cook fr. sprints

Joe Eads fr. distance, triple jump

Eric Kull fr. sprints, long jump

Brandon Meier fr. throws

Matthew Nichols fr. distance

Jesse Peppers fr. throws

Outlook: The numbers are down a bit, but the Mustangs have plenty of talent to make some noise in the Three Rivers. Sprints will anchor Morrison's performances, but look for the jumps and distance runners to improve as the season goes on.

Newman Comets

Coach: Andy Accardi (21st season)

2013: Second at 14-team 1A Bureau Valley Sectional

Andrew Kobbeman sr. distance

Josh Lehrke sr. distance

Warren Melton sr. distance

Lars Roleder sr. throws

Micah Trancoso sr. sprints

Quincy Coomes jr. distance

Matt Johnson jr. throws

Nolan McGinn jr. sprints, jumps

Jamie Nelson jr. jumps

Loren Newberry jr. throws

Bryson Reyes jr. distance

Drew Rosengren jr. distance

Regan Todhunter jr. sprints

Chris Wilson jr. throws

Jared Brauman so. throws

Braydon Delgado so. sprints

Jax Fane so. sprints

Jeremy Henson so. distance

Clay Jungerman so. distance

Ethan Nash so. sprints

Brady Rude so. sprints

Chris Ahlers fr. distance

Mateo Cortez fr. sprints

Jacob Heiderscheit fr. jumps

Aaron Scroggins fr. sprints

Outlook: A Class 1A state title last season has spirits high amongst the Comets again this spring. While most of the medalists from last year's championship have moved on, look for the distance races and field events to provide plenty of support for the loss of depth in the sprints. Brady Rude and Nolan McGinn ran on state-title relays a year ago, and will anchor what coach Accardi calls a "strong core" of experience and talent.
