DIXON –More than 120 people attended this year’s “Ready … Set … Grow” program March 15 at Sauk Valley Community College.

The day was sponsored by Master Gardeners of Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside counties.

Workshops included hypertufa, terrariums, small fruits, attracting birds, container gardening, spring wildflowers, herbs, and gardening with native plants.

New this year were demonstrations in the east mall of the college.

They included basics of a vase arrangement, forcing spring branches and bulbs for indoor bloom, and from a garden to a blender.

There also were local vendors with gardening items for purchase and a horticulture help desk ran by the Master Gardeners, a buffet breakfast, garden lunch, and door prizes.
