Published: Wednesday, April 2, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

DIXON – Repair work will begin Sunday on the Harmon Road Bridge over Interstate 88 near Sterling.

The road will close at 6 p.m. between Rock Island and Rock Falls roads. No detour will be posted, but Harmon Road traffic can use Nelson Road as an alternate route.

The bridge height will be raised during construction. Repairs on bridge beams and abutments, and concrete deck patching, also will take place.

Work will begin the same week on the Interstate 88 bridge over state Route 26, with concrete deck patching and repairs to bridge beams and piers. Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions for about 1 mile near Route 26.

For more information, call the state Department of Transportation office in Dixon at 815-284-2271.
