Paige Gascoigne, 18, of Amboy, is Amboy High School’s April Student of the Month. Her parents are Lisa and Gary Gascoigne, and she has two sisters, Brittany Gascoigne, 21, and Alyssa Gascoigne, 13.
Favorite class: Spanish. I may not be the best at learning a foreign language, but being able to learn about the Spanish-speaking culture amazes me.
Top teacher: Sarah Landers, who teaches all of the agriculture classes. She is a very caring teacher and always looks at the best in her students. She pushes me to be the best student I can be.
Extracurriculars: I have been in band all 4 years, soccer 4 years, 4-H, National Honor Society vice president, and Spanish Honor Society secretary.
After graduation: I will attend Sauk Valley Community College, then transfer to Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria.
Paycheck: I am a dietary aide at Green Acres Healthcare in Amboy. I have worked there for about 3 years now and absolutely love my job. Being able to work with the residents and listen to their stories makes my day.

Best friends: Matt Contreras and Alexa Blackburn. We have all been close friends since junior high.
Favorite movie: “Sixteen Candles”
Hobby: Showing my goats at fairs

What makes your blood boil? People who put others down
Haunts: My garden in the summertime. It’s relaxing to be out in the sun while doing something productive.
What kind of music makes your skin crawl? Music without lyrics
High school survival guide: Don’t stress the little things in life.
Useless knowledge: Shakespeare, for sure.
Personal trivia: I love to bake and decorate cakes.
Dream job: If you could try any job for one day, what would it be? Zookeeper. It would be awesome to work with the large, exotic animals.
Trading spaces: Rome. It has a rich culture with tons of art.
