Substance abuse programs planned

STERLING – Parents and Teens Together will present two informational programs to help parents discuss substance abuse with their children.

Both programs will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The first meeting will be April 16 at the Challand Middle School cafeteria, 1700 Sixth Ave., in Sterling. The second program will be April 17 at the Rock Falls Middle School cafeteria, 1701 12th Ave.

Douglas Petit with PATT will speak about raising teenagers, how substance abuse impacted his life, and how to deal with the subject as children grow older. Gift certificates will be available from Applebee’s, Culver’s, Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Hardee’s, Arby’s, Don Pedro’s/Arthur’s Deli, Dairy Queen, and Papa Murphy’s.
