SOFTBALL

Sterling game location change

Because of poor field conditions in Sycamore, the varsity and sophomore games between Sterling and Sycamore have been moved to Sterling. Games will begin at 4:30 p.m.

WOMEN’S BOWLING

Kleinmaier, Warhawks make NCAA meet

Dixon graduate Katie Kleinmaier and the Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s bowling team have been selected for the NCAA Championships set for April 10-12 in Wickliffe, Ohio.

It is the second year in a row and second time overall that the Warhawks have qualified for the meet. Eight teams from all three divisions are selected to participate. Other teams participating are Arkansas State, Central Missouri, Nebraska, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Farleigh Dickinson, Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State.

NFL

Bowman signs with Giants

The New York Giants added another defensive back in free agent Zack Bowman.

Bowman gives the Giants seven cornerbacks on the roster. He was drafted by the Bears to play a zone scheme under head coach Lovie Smith, but has the size (6-1, 199) and long arms to adjust to a man-to-man heavy defense.

Bowman started seven games for the Bears in 2013 and played in all 16 games. He totaled 49 tackles and three interceptions in 2013.

Texans release ex-Bear Manning

The Houston Texans have released safety Danieal Manning after three seasons with the club.

Manning started all 35 games he played for the Texans and had his season cut short in 2013 after six games because of a fractured fibula. He had 24 tackles and a sack last season.

The 31-year-old veteran spent his first five NFL seasons with the Bears.

NHL

Avs lose top scorer Duchene

Colorado won Saturday to lock up a playoff spot, but lost top scorer Matt Duchene for at least 4 weeks with a knee injury.

Duchene was hurt in the first period and had an MRI exam on his left knee Sunday. The Avalanche said he could miss 1 month.

NBA

Rodman plays basketball in drag

Don’t cry for Dennis Rodman, Argentina. The truth is, he’s done this before.

Continuing his career as a basketball’s self-appointed (and unlikeliest) diplomat, Rodman dressed in drag for an exhibition game in Buenos Aires over the weekend. Wearing a blonde hairpiece, fake eyelashes and glittery purple makeup, the former Bulls star participated in the Legends of Basketball Tour 2014 alongside former NBA players such as Gary Payton, Latrell Sprewell and Vin Baker.
