COLETA – Gary J. Hronek, 66, of Coleta, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born Oct. 30, 1947, in Manitowoc, Wis., the son of Leonard Joseph and Clara (Firkus) Hronek. He married Cecilia A. “Sally” (Villa) Gonzalez on Nov. 10, 1988. Gary was employed as a food products representative for Performance Foods (formerly Fox River) for more than 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Amy and Lisa; one son, Jon Hronek; one stepdaughter, Theresa (Dale) Esters of Gilroy, Calif.; one stepson, John R. (Roberta) Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Carol (Sid) Singer of Stanford, Conn., Sharon (Dave) Clitheroe of Leathersot, England, Margaret (Paul) Matarano of Schaumburg and Sandy (Paul) Buckner of Fond du Lac, Wis; four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Audrey, and a stepdaughter, Sally Trobaugh.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James Keenan officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

McDonald Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
