STERLING – Zollie W. Hall, 81, of Sterling, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria.

Zollie was born on Nov. 4, 1932, in Charleston, the son of Wilbur and Violet Irene (Bell) Hall. He married Doris Jean Carroll on Aug. 8, 1959, in Arcola. Zollie was an educator for 41 years, retiring in 1998. He was employed with Spoon River College, Blackhawk Tech College, Joliet High School, Joliet Junior College, Streator High School and Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon. Zollie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club and Natural Area Guardians.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, of Sterling; one daughter, Cynthia Jean (Guy) Rumler of Hutsonville; two sons, Michael Stephen Hall of Canton and Phillip Edward Hall of Windlake, Wis.; one sister, Dorothy Irene Madlem of Charleston; three brothers, John Doyle Hall of Charleston, Charles Clinton Hall of Malvern, Ark., and Albert Leroy Hall of Oceola, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lillie and Norma; one brother, Harold.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Keenan officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Natural Area Guardians.
