Wootton signs deal with Vikings
Defensive end Corey Wootton has signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings, according to his agent.
Wootton, who entered the league in 2010 as a fourth-round pick, played 45 games over his 4 seasons with the Bears and made 22 starts. He delivered a 7-sack season in 2012, emerging as a legitimate pass rush threat off the edge.
But last season, with the Bears’ defense decimated by injuries, Wootton slid inside frequently to play defensive tackle and his statistical production was ordinary at best. In 15 starts, Wootton recorded 31 tackles with 3 ½ sacks and an additional 4 ½ tackles for loss.
