Recycle electronics in Oregon

OREGON – Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department and Universal Recycling Technologies will recycle residential electronics.

Items may be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in the parking lot at the waste department, 909 Pines Road; and from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays in the parking lot at Byron Forest Preserve District Stone Quarry, 6845 N. German Church Road. Both locations are closed after dark and on holidays.

Acceptable items include answering machines, cables, calculators, cameras, radios, phones, computers, fax machines, digital clocks, mice, discs, shredders, printers, keyboards, microwaves, TVs, VCRs, video game consoles, speakers, and digital music players.

No business electronics are allowed. Remove personal information from hard drives before recycling.

Do not dump other waste into the drop-off container, take items from the container, or leave items outside the container. Unload and stack carefully; no help is available.

A countywide recycling event will be announced at a later date.
