STERLING – The Rock River Valley Barbershop Chorus’ 63rd annual show “On the Air...” will begin at 4:30 p.m. March 29 at Centennial Auditorium at Sterling High School, 1608 Fourth Ave.
According to a news release, the group will “put its spin on the golden days of radio,” with gags inspired by Abbott & Costello, Fred Allen, Jack Benny and Stan Freberg, plus musical selections including “This Could Be the Start of Something,” “Nevertheless” and “Little Pal”.
The feature quartet will be Forefront, a group that formed in August 2009, and has enjoyed success at international barbershop competitions. Forefront also was named the 2010 and 2013 Cardinal District Quartet of the Year. The group won the district’s 2010 championship, scoring higher than more than 300 district quartet competitors from around the nation. Most recently, Forefront won a fifth-place bronze medal in July for its contest performances in Toronto.
Tickets for the show are on sale, and are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and free for students with an ID.
Tickets are available at Community State Bank locations in Sterling and Rock Falls; Select Employees Credit Union; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sterling; Books on First in Dixon; from any Barbershop Chorus member; or by calling 815-625-1248 or 815-631-6110.
