DIXON – Kathleen Jo Hummel, 62, of Dixon, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Kathy was born March 7, 1952, in Dixon, the daughter of Raymond and Juanita (Jenkins) Myers. She served the community as a member of the Lee County Board, Dixon School Board, United Way of Dixon, and the Dixon Petunia Festival. 

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Craig) Tyler of Grayslake and Debra (Darin) Day of Lewisville, Texas; one son, Christopher (Sarah) Hummel of Amboy; her mother, Juanita Myers of Dixon; two sisters, Sandy Hait of Sterling and Nancy (Dave) Peebles of Bronson, Fla.; one brother, Thomas (Cathy) Myers of Dixon; and nine grandchildren, Elyse and Braden Tyler, Dariyn, Drevin, Daehly, and Dreyden Day, and Samantha, Andrew, and Shawn Hummel.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Myers.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marty Creager, pastor of Dixon Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with The Avon Foundation for Women, 777 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017.
