Vote Simonton for Lee sheriff

An open letter to the citizens of Lee County. I haven't been "politically involved" since I was 18 years old. I'm a 60-year-old registered Democrat, one who has always voted for the person and not the party. I believe we, indeed, are all entitled to an opinion. The following is mine.

I've known John Simonton for more than 20 years. I know he is honest, hard working, and willing to give his expertise and knowledge of law enforcement to the position of Lee County sheriff.

He's a humble man who was asked to enter this race, and I know he's running on the history of his employment with the state of Illinois.

I believe any negativity currently being talked about is not of his doing. I believe his qualifications should stop any further debate.

Please consider the fact that he's more than qualified to lead this organization and to bring his integrity to the position of sheriff.

I will be voting in the Republican primary. It will be the first time I do so, and I hope you will do the same.

Please cast your vote for, and place your faith and trust in, John Simonton on March 18.
