Retain Rock as state’s attorney

Published: Friday, March 14, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

Mike Rock, state’s attorney, has been successfully prosecuting persons accused of crimes, many of them serious crimes in Ogle County, since 2010 when he came to Ogle county to work for our son, Ben Roe, who was then state’s attorney.

When Ben was appointed circuit judge, the county board unanimously appointed Mike Rock as state’s attorney, rather than other applicants, one of whom is his primary opponent.

I had the opportunity when I was circuit judge to know Mike Rock the first time he worked in Ogle County when he was an assistant state’s attorney for Doug Floski, then state’s attorney. Mike is a very experienced trial lawyer, professional in his dealings with the public, county government officials, and law enforcement.

He is actively supported by Jerry Brooks, Melvin Messer and Greg Beitel, all former Ogle County sheriffs. As a former state’s attorney, I know this is a very difficult job that requires a good lawyer who works hard, is objective, and is not easily influenced by others.

Mike Rock is such a person. Please keep Tuesday, March 18, marked on your calendar and vote for State’s Attorney Mike Rock.

Note to readers: Jack Roe is a retired circuit judge and former state’s attorney of Ogle County.
