Re-elect Varga for county sheriff

Published: Thursday, March 13, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT • Updated: Tuesday, April 22, 2014 4:05 p.m. CDT

This letter endorses for John Varga for Lee County sheriff. John has done an outstanding job as our present sheriff. He's a very ethical man. He takes his job seriously and has the citizens of Lee County under the watchful eye of his department.

We don't need a man in this office who is already retired from the state police at a pension of more than $111,000. My question is, Why did he retire from law enforcement and then wants to go back into the same profession? Is it just because he has the need to be a cop? Sometimes law enforcement personnel, upon retirement, find it difficult to give up the gun and badge.

Whatever his reasons, we don't need anyone new at this position, because Sheriff Varga has been doing such a fine job. He deserves to be re-elected to continue with his policies.

Varga will continue to improve all aspects of his department on an ongoing basis. He's a man you can trust to be available to the citizens of Lee County.

So, upon reading the information stated above, I ask for your vote to re-elect John Varga for sheriff of Lee County.
