OGLE COUNTY – A DeKalb man was taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford on Saturday after a single-vehicle crash at South Malta and Woodlawn roads.

Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at 7:54 a.m. An investigation revealed that a 2002 Honda Accord driven by Jacob S. Bidstrup, 22, was westbound on South Malta Road when Bidstrup failed to stop at the intersection. His vehicle struck a snowbank on the west side of Woodlawn Road, went airborne, and came to rest in a field.

Bidstrup was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was given a notice to appear in court. He was treated at Rochelle Community Hospital before he was taken to OSF Saint Anthony. Bidstrup’s condition was unavailable Monday.
