JOSLIN (AP) – Illinois State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a motorist they say fled after hitting and killing a pedestrian on a northwestern Illinois freeway.

Authorities haven’t yet released the name of the victim killed shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 88 near Joslin in Rock Island County.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved may be a full-sized truck or a sport utility vehicle, and that it might be missing a driver’s side mirror and have a damaged headlight on that side.

State police are asking anyone who witnessed anything to call them.
