Vos named Luther offensive MVP

Josh Vos, a 2010 Morrison graduate, was named the offensive MVP for the Luther College football team on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Vos, who was a second-team all-Iowa Conference selection at fullback, led the Norse in rushing (888 yds) and scoring (13 TD). He tallied four 100-yard games, including a career-high 162 during Luther’s final game of the year against Simpson College.

Henne signs deal with Jaguars

Chad Henne, who had been one of the two most prominent unrestricted free agents for the Jaguars, decided to stay put.

Henne agreed to a 2-year contract with Jacksonville. Henne, 28, started 13 games in 2013.

Indy 500 qualifying to be 2 days

The new qualifying format for the Indianapolis 500 will include three rounds over 2 days, with the pole-winner emerging from a “Fast Nine Shootout” on what used to be Bump Day.

IndyCar officials said there will be points incentives that have yet to be announced.

Logano wins pole in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – Joey Logano has won the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, turning a qualifying lap at a track-record 193.28 mph.

Logano will start on the front row next to Penske Ford teammate Brad Keselowski.

Molina still jailed, title fight scrapped

World light-middleweight boxing champion Carlos Molina of Chicago remained jailed in Las Vegas on Friday, unable to keep his scheduled Saturday night co-main event title defense against unbeaten Jermall Charlo at MGM Grand.

Chicago’s Molina (22-5-2, 6 KOs) was arrested Tuesday on a sex-offender warrant issued in 2007.
