STERLING – Marvin Johnson, 85, of Sterling, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Marvin was born May 1, 1928, in Hale, Mo. He worked as a carpenter for many years. Marvin served in the Army.

Survivors include one daughter, Lana (Terry) Knox of Sterling; one son, Gary (Saundra) Johnson I of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren, Shannen, Shane, Gary II, Susan, and Tyler; five great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kade, Gavin, Emma, and Gage; and many great friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert; and one sister, Lorene.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
