Two injured in three-vehicle crash
OGLE COUNTY – Two people were hurt Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash on state Route 72 East, just east of Stillman Valley.
Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 7:35 a.m. An initial investigation revealed that a car driven by Mary Davis, 47, of Davis Junction, was westbound when Davis lost control on the snow-covered roadway. Her vehicle then struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Mary Lou Belmonte, 37, of Davis Junction, in a head-on collision. A third vehicle, driven by Shelly Carson, 42, of Davis Junction, was westbound, and collided with Davis’ car.
Davis had to be removed from her car, and was taken by Stillman Valley Ambulance to SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. Her condition was unavailable Thursday. A 13-year-old girl in Davis’ car was taken by Byron Ambulance to Rockford Memorial Hospital. Her condition also was unavailable Thursday. The accident remains under investigation.
