Florence E. Vincent

MENDOTA – Florence E. Vincent, 96, of Mendota, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Mendota Lutheran Home. She was a homemaker.

Florence was born May 27, 1917, in State Center, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Raleigh and Carrie E. (Inglis) Fry. She married Eugene A. Vincent on Feb. 11, 1939, at St. Mary Church in West Brooklyn. He preceded her in death June 12, 1985. She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Mendota.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Pamela Arringdale) Vincent of Bloomington and Edward (Kathy) Vincent of Princeton; four daughters, Carole Bensen, Joyce Green, and Paula (Joe) Cicchetti, all of Amboy, and Doris (Charles) Moore of Clermont, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Swisher of Mendota and Judy Thomas of Joliet; and a sister-in-law, Betty Fry of Mendota.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Jim; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Charles Fry; and three sisters, MaryLou Russ, Anabell Gehant, and Barb Powers.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Schwarz Funeral Home in Mendota. Visitation also will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Sublette, with the Rev. Joel Lopez officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Sublette.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
