Elect Winick to 17th District committee post

Published: Saturday, March 15, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

The Illinois primary is March 18, and it is equally important to consider the race for Democratic state central committeewoman in the 17th Congressional District, which is currently held by Christine Eik Winick of Galesburg.

Winick has held this position since September when she was elected by Democratic County chairmen to complete the unexpired term of Mary Boland.

The primary job for the person elected to this unpaid position is to work with individuals and Democratic organizations so Democrats get elected to serve the public good and make our lives better.

I could run through a litany of examples of the hard work, hours spent, and miles traveled that Chris logged while working for and fighting for families in Illinois. I could speak of the experience and knowledge Chris has, the trust citizens have shown in her,  disappointments she’s experienced, and how all of this has made her a better citizen, but I want to encourage you go to her website,, and see for yourself.

Why do we vote for someone? I still believe it comes down to two factors: likability and trust. Trust is indeed earned; Chris has earned ours.

Vote for Christine Eik Winick.

Note to readers: The 17th Congressional District includes Whiteside and Carroll counties.
