Consult God on what ails United States
Some people say that I, the mighty United States of America, am sick. Others even say I’m dying. Actually, I do feel sick.
I have headaches from thinking about my problems: huge budget deficits, high taxes, unemployment, foreign problems, and frightening increases in crime, violence and terrorism.
I frequently feel nauseated when I hear about alcoholism, drug addiction, abortion, child abuse, pornography, adultery, corrupt politicians, and shady business deals. I need a breath of fresh air; pure air that’s free from lies, corruption and bureaucratic controls.
I know I’m overweight. When I felt better, I took advantage of the good life. I ate, drank and bought a lot, and did everything I could to have a good time. I used to be red blooded and strong, but now I feel weak.
I have my own idea about what’s the matter with me. I think my heart is failing. I used to be stouthearted, unselfish, courageous, honest, hard-working, loyal and God-fearing. But lately, I feel faint-hearted much of the time.
I haven’t given up hope, though. I come from hardy pioneer stock. I’ve survived crises before and grown stronger because of them.
However, there’s no doubt my condition is very serious. Learned specialists look at me and sadly shake their heads. They can’t agree on a treatment, but they do agree it will cost a lot.
But there’s one specialist who hasn’t been consulted yet. I’ve heard he knows everything and nothing is too hard for him.
I believe only God can work the heart cure that will give me new life and make me strong again. I think it’s time to give him a call.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 33:12)
Let’s pray earnestly for our country.
