Backs Drought for Ogle sheriff

Published: Saturday, March 15, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

The people of Ogle County will soon be going to the polls to choose their next sheriff. I have had the privilege to work with Chief Joe Drought over the past 17 years while he has served as chief of police at the Rock Valley College Police Department.

Drought has earned the respect and trust of many of the Rock River Valley police chiefs and sheriffs. Drought was elected to serve twice as chairman of the Northern Illinois Training Advisory board. He has served as a member of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force as well.

In both areas of service, he was selected because of his integrity, the professional manner in which he conducts himself, and his dedication to doing the right thing.

It is with the same trust and confidence that Joe Drought will make the best choice for Ogle County sheriff.

Note to readers: Jan W. Noble is a chief of police in Boone County.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
