Senior facility plans activities

STERLING – A number of events are scheduled this month at the Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 W. Ninth St.

A class for beginning and advanced scrapbookers is set for 1 p.m. Thursday. Participants are asked to bring scissors, double-sided tape or a glue stick, and four to six pictures. The cost is $5. Registration is required.

Very Caring Professionals will provide a wellness event at 11 a.m. Friday. Blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen levels will be checked.

A chili and bake sale will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 25. The menu will include a bowl of chili, sandwich, drink and dessert. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children, and free for children younger than 5. Tickets are available at the center. Proceeds will benefit the center’s programs and activities.

The movie, “The Butler,” will be shown at 12:30 p.m. March 28. The movie and popcorn are free. The film stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, John Cusack, and Jane Fonda, in the story of a White House butler who served eight presidents across 3 decades.
