ROCK FALLS – Matthew Madsen Anderson, 15, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Matt was born Feb. 12, 1999, in Sterling, the son of Michael Dennis and Jennifer Sue (Madsen) Anderson. He attended East Coloma School and was a freshman at Rock Falls Township High School. Matt excelled in sports. He was a member of the 2011 and 2013 Rock Falls Little League State Champion teams. Matt played on the undefeated Rock Falls Township High School freshman football team, and was a shooting guard for the Rock Falls basketball team. Whatever sport he was playing, Matt never complained, gave his all, and had a true love for the game. 

Matt had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. 

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Mike and Jennifer; his sister, Katie; his brother, Nick; his maternal grandparents, Carol Madsen of Eldridge, Iowa, and Richard (Brenda) Madsen of Bettendorf, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Pauline Anderson of Sterling; maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Betty Madsen of Stuart, Fla.; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Caudillo of Sterling; his aunts and uncles, Gretchen and John Lindle, Chad and Josie Anderson, and Eric and Ashley Anderson; and his cousins, Megan Lindle, Jace Anderson, and Kennedy Anderson. Matt also will be missed by countless friends. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Lloyd and Elizabeth Barber; his paternal great-grandparents, Donald and Cassie Anderson; and his great-grandfather, Peter Caudillo.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Harvest Time Bible Church, 1801 Dixon Ave., Rock Falls. A prayer service will follow at the church. Private family burial will be at a later date. McDonald Funeral Homes is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and sent to Midland States Bank in Rock Falls for future disbursement.
