Lyle E. Oncken

AURORA – Lyle E. Oncken, 89, of Aurora, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Presence McAuley in Aurora. He served as executive director of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services Inc., from 1974 to 1990.

Lyle was born Aug. 27, 1924, on a farm near Sterling, the son of Arthur and Hannah Oncken. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his son, Lee A. (Jan Ann) Oncken; son-in-law, Tom Boynton; daughter, Jan M. (Cheyenne) Oncken; five grandchildren; and his brother, Keith Oncken.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Oncken; his daughter, Sally Boynton; his parents; and his brothers, Lauren and Arthur Oncken.

His body was donated to science. A memorial service was Feb. 28 in Aurora. Healy Chapel in Aurora handled arrangements.
