In praise of coach’s values and character

Published: Friday, March 7, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

This was an amazing story about coaches that we don’t hear about that often [“Mr. Robinson’s new neighborhood,” Feb. 25]. Don Robinson is not only a good coach, but he is also a great person to have in a school system.

The values he stresses are lifelong character building, and that makes everyone better who comes into contact with him, his team, and his former teams. I do not know Mr. Robinson personally, but I endorse his style.

Thanks for being in “the neighborhood.”  And thank you, SVM Sports Reporter Brian Weidman, for a great column.

Note to readers: Don Robinson has coached the Prophetstown High School girls basketball team for 37 years. On Saturday, the Prophets took second place in the IHSA Class 2A state tournament.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
