DIXON – Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger, whose life inspired the movie “Rudy,” will be the featured speaker at a father-son banquet for the St. Anne School 50th anniversary.

Ruettiger, a little-used football player at Notre Dame, is now a motivational speaker.

The banquet will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Newman Central Catholic High School, 1101 W. 23rd St., Sterling. Dinner will begin at 5 p.m., and Ruettiger will speak at 6 p.m.

Ruettiger played only one game in his college career, and sacked a quarterback in the last 27 seconds. The movie “Rudy,” about Ruettiger’s life story, was released in 1993.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for boys younger than 15. To buy tickets, stop at St. Anne, 1112 N. Brinton Ave., or Venier’s Jewelry, 117 W. First St.
