Vote Drought for Ogle sheriff

Published: Tuesday, March 4, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

I’ve witnessed the actions of many past Ogle County sheriffs. There were always some things I disagreed with, but that’s what life is all about.

We need some big changes made in our county elected officials; foremost, being the sheriff. I’ve listened and read a lot in an effort to make an educated decision regarding the candidate best suited to be our next sheriff.

In my opinion, Joe Drought is that man, far and away. It would be a shame to waste the talents, integrity, and thoughtfulness of a candidate like Joe. His vast knowledge of police work during the past 30 years is invaluable.

Almost two decades of management experience as Rock Valley chief of police will complement his extensive qualifications. This will give him knowledge of dealing with a union, budget, patrol, investigation, and daily functions of the sheriff’s office.

We, as taxpayers, should hold our expectancies of our elected officials to the highest standards. Help me get this process started by electing Joe Drought as our next sheriff on March 18.

The primary election will be used to determine that office – not the general election. It takes only a few minutes to cast your vote.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
