Whiteside County Sheriff

Zachary T. Billings, 20, of Rock Falls; 12:24 a.m. Sunday at U.S. Route 30 and Yorktown Road in rural Sterling; driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence while blood alcohol content is greater than .08, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of alcohol as a minor, consumption of alcohol as a minor; released with notice to appear in court. Arrested at the same time was Gaije R. Drane-Fowkes, 20, of Sterling; illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of alcohol as a minor, consumption of alcohol as a minor, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia; given notice to appear in court.

Jeff M. English, 57, of Clinton, Iowa; 4:50 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 30 near state Route 136; no valid driver’s license, speeding; posted bond and given notice to appear in court.

Two hurt Sunday in 2-vehicle crash

FULTON – Two men received minor injuries Sunday in a two-vehicle crash at U.S. Route 30 and Frog Pond Road in rural Fulton.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 5:51 p.m. An investigation revealed that a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Gerald W. Werkheiser, 52, of Fulton, was northbound on Frog Pond Road when Werkheiser disobeyed the stop sign at the intersection. His vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2001 Nissan driven by Tyler H. Stubblefield, 25, of Rockford.

Both were treated at the scene. A juvenile passenger in Werkheiser’s vehicle was not injured. Werkheiser was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life and/or health of a child, no insurance, and disobeying a stop sign. He was taken to Whiteside County Jail.

Stubblefield was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended and released with a notice to appear in court. Fulton police, fire, and emergency management services personnel provided aid.
