Hats off to all volunteers for Home of Hope

Published: Saturday, March 1, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

We had such a wonderful time at the Feb. 22 Home of Hope Mardi Gras, thanks to KSB Hospital and the many sponsors.

Joan Padilla did a superb job of organizing this event down to the very last detail, the two bands, the Cajun cuisine, the decorations that brought the spirit of Mardi Gras, and the many auction items.

The east mall at Sauk Valley Community College provided a great venue, bringing lots of fond memories for me.

Sauk is where I met all my now-late friends: Jerry Mathis, Max Guinnup, and Ruth Hedstrom. I spent lots of time in the music and theatre departments and took various classes (education for its own sake). Sauk was my haven when our kids were growing up.

After listening to Rosemary’s testimony of her experience with the Home of Hope, Cancer Wellness Center, I feel that we have a “gem “ of an institution that is available to patients and their families.

Hats off to all the volunteers and staff.
