Elect Drought county sheriff

Published: Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

In the Republican primary election March 18, voters in Ogle County will cast ballots for sheriff. The sheriff is a position of leadership, integrity and management. I believe Joe Drought is the best person to demonstrate those qualities as sheriff.

I have known Joe for 8 years. I’ve seen him conduct himself with integrity at all times. He’s been a chief of police for all of those years and runs that department with complete transparency.

Joe has taken on the role of mentor and teacher in the area of school active shooter training. He has trained many of our area police officers on how to protect our children and school staff from intruders. He has then taken those experiences and adapted it to train teachers and staff in our local school districts. He has trained more than 1,500 school staff members in northern Illinois.

The office of sheriff should be run by a leader who has law enforcement administration experience, will act professionally at all times, and will uphold his oath to serve and protect the people of Ogle County.

Because of his strong leadership and experience, I write to give my support to Joe Drought for Ogle County sheriff.
