PREP FOOTBALL

LaSalle-Peru’s Sassano resigns

The LaSalle-Peru school board accepted the resignation of varsity football coach Joe Sassano after a closed session at Wednesday night’s meeting.

Sassano, who resigned to spend more time with his family, led the Cavaliers to a 27-38 record in seven seasons, including playoff berths in 2007 and 2009. The Cavs were 1-8 last fall.

Superintendent Steve Wrobleski said he was sorry to lose Sassano, but he understood that family comes first. He said the search for a new coach will start in the next few weeks.
